Education | BS in Business Education, Northwest Mo State 1968
Academic Language Therapy Training, 2000
Professional Life | I did my best "Miss Mossman" impersonation while teaching Business Education for three years at Center High School.
I became a full-time mom and community volunteer in 1972 Began private tutoring alphabetic phonics (Orton-Gillingham Program for learning different children) in 2000.
Family Life | Ken and I have been married for 36 years and have two grown children. Stephanie is an elementary teacher at Martin City Elementary in the Grandview District. Christopher is married and is a Presbyterian minister in a suburb of Seattle. No grandchildren to date, but have one very spoiled Australian Shepherd.
Hobbies & Interests | I get my "kid-fix" by teaching a Pre-K Sunday School class. It's a lot like Grandchildren in that they are so cute and so much fun, but then they go home after an hour and a half.
If you use the term loosely, I'm a golfer (strictly fair-weather, but married to a die-hard golfer). I also play "neighborhood chatter" disguised as bridge twice a month.
Retirement Plans | I guess I'm semi-retired. My husband took early retirement two years ago and has been trying to "catch up" on all the golf he missed during the previous 34 years. I don't tutor on a regular basis any more, as I don't want to miss a chance to head to warmer golfing weather in the winter. I still do some assessments of learning different children and help with simulations for teacher workshops.
