Education | After high school, I played basketball at Central Missouri State for 2 years, then was drafted into the Viet Nam conflict. I was lucky enough to make the All-Navy Basketball Team, spending 2 years in Virginia Beach, playing basketball on the east coast at numerous colleges for military PR purposes. After a bad knee injury, I was still able to play 2 more years at Tarkio College, where I earned a bachelor's degree and started my coaching career as an assistant coach in 1970. I earned a Master's in education in 1982 from Northwest Missouri State University.

Professional Life | I have taught physical education, health, drivers education, psychology, social studies, and art at the high school level and have been a head varsity basketball coach for 31 years. I have also been a head golf, baseball and track coach. I was an athletic director at 3 different high schools and have been awarded a meritorious service award for 25 years of service in athletics. I was inducted into the Missouri High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000. |
Family Life | My wife and I have been married 33 years. I met Kathy, who was a high school cheerleader from Columbus, OH while I was in the Navy. We have 3 grown children: Zac, Eddie and Molly, who have all graduated from college, and 1 grandson, Brady (age 4). We have a grey cat (Grey Cat) and a Boston Terrier (Brutus). We now live in Holts Summit, MO (just across the river from Jefferson City). |
Hobbies & Interests | Golf, weightlifting, more golf, swimming, camping, more golf, canoeing/boating (and did I mention golf -- it is my passion). I stay in touch with Dave Wise, our fellow classmate and my best friend since 1962. |
Retirement Plans | I am currently contemplating retiring, but am looking at the possibilities of coaching at the college level. I am looking forward to seeing you at the reunion. (And thanks, Margie, for all your hard work!) BB |
