Don Burton Peters, 56, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2003, at home after a courageous five-year battle, with chronic lymphatic leukemia. He was born in Kansas City, MO, on November 16, 1946, Otto Clark and Mary Ellen DeLoris Jones Peters, who preceded him in death along with a sister Barbara Jean. He leaves his wife, Carol Huffman Richardson Peters, of the home, his first wife, Sandy Coppock of Kansas City, and a son David Peters and wife, Kristina, a daughter, Laura Heston and husband, James, all of Independence, MO, his stepsons, Darren Richardson, Olathe, Ks, and Les Richardson and fiancee, Dawn Scarborough of Odessa, MO. He was always telling his grandchildren, Zachary and Talia, Hunter, Drake, and Caitlin, that he was "The last of the Good Guys." Also to mourn his passing are his brothers, Kenneth and wife Ann of Independence, MO, Jerry and wife Dorothy of Lee's Summit, MO, and Harold and wife Lori of Grandview, MO, sisters, Mary Rucker and Husband Paul, Hansville, WA, and Cheryl Hampton and husband Richard of San Jose, CA, and several nieces and nephews. He leaves his "brothers and sisters" of IBEW Local 124, where he was employed for 30 years as a commercial electrician. Don was a 1964 graduate of Southeast High of Kansas City, MO. At Don's request, he will be cremated and there will be no memorial services. If you would like to do something in his memory, please donate blood or money to your local blood bank. The family wishes to thank his doctors and nurses of St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs, MO, and the chemo nurses at K.C. Cancer Center in Lee's Summit, MO, for their wonderful care and compassion and all those friends who said a prayer or gave blood for him. He treasured his friends from Tea Cup Squares and the Bee Squares Dance Clubs, and the First United Methodist Church of Odessa, MO, and the staff and patrons of the Added Touch, Odessa, MO, for their support.
