Anita Schmidt (Osborn)
EducationMy career life and my personal life are two distinct parts of who I am. But they continue to intersect.

Professional LifeI was married to Ed Harnett (older brother to Bruce class of ’64) for 11 years. We have a son, Tyler who is now 21 years old and just starting a path at the University of Kansas toward becoming a high school English teacher. He took a year off to work in Atlanta with Mission Year, living in a poor area and tutoring math in the high school. It was a life changing experience for him. Ed and I owned an ad agency: HMS Advertising.

For the past 9 years, I’ve worked for a national research firm here in KC…returning to work for the person who had been my boss when I worked for KMBC-TV many years ago! His name is Chip Osborn, and we have now been married for two years. (We call our home The Row Boat. If you meet Chip at the Reunion be sure to ask him about that.)

Our company is Persuadable Research Corporation. We are a national consumer research firm with clients like: General Motors, SABMiller, Payless Shoe Source, General Electric + Saks Inc. It used to mean business travel every other week, but the advent of online capabilities has allowed us to handle it from KC!

In addition to owning his own business, Chip has been a pilot with a commercial license most of his life. He recently sold his airplane, but the many years of travel in “Papa Charlie” remain great memories. We have both traveled all over the world, but seeing the USA from the vantage point of his airplane was unique! I remember flying low on the Michigan coast on our way to Mackinaw Island, really seeing the entire expanse of the Grand Canyon, capping the Teton mountains as we flew to Jackson Hole, landing on a small plateau in Sedona, and hundreds of trips to NYC and the East Coast.

Family LifeMy five stepchildren are all an exceptional part of my life. I am so blessed!

My mother is still alive at 87 years old, but has recently has been fighting gastric lymphoma.
Hobbies & InterestsChip and I enjoy dinner parties with many friends, frequent travel, fixing up the Row Boat and appreciating each other. Life is very good. I never would have thought that this time of my life would be the BEST!!!
