PART ONE
Chapter Three resumes the Glied story with our direct line ancestor, (#31) Albert HenrichG3 Glied. Albert HenrichG3 was the grandson of EberdtG1 Glied, and the ninth child of Jobst HenrichG2 Glied. AlbertG3 was born in 1765 which was the year that the Emperor Francis died in Austria. After the death of Emperor Francis, his wife, Maria Theresa retired from public life and their son Josef II became Emperor of Austria. Maria Theresa resumed power of Austria after her son Josef II relinquished to the state a large private fortune which he inherited from his father. This was the state of affairs when our ancestor Albert HenrichG3 Glied was born.i AlbertG3 continued to live in his boyhood community at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf located near Schildesche in the modern day state of Nordrhein\Westfalen, Germany. He was born a free man and was a Heürling, or member of the lowest rank of peasants.
31. ALBERT HENRICHG3 GLIED (EberdtG1 ), the ninth child of the free Heürling, Jobst HenrichG2 and Anna Ilsabein Glied nee Schürmann, was born on 8 Jun 1765 at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf #6, in the parish of Schildesche, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 9 Jun 1765 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche. He was named after his godfather, Albert Henrich Trebbe of Kirchspiel Bünde.ii In 1786, Albert HenrichG3 fathered a son by Anne Marie Ilsabein Wörheide. This illegitimate son was our direct line ancestor, Albert Henrich.G4 It remains a mystery why Albert HenrichG3 Glied did not marry Anne Marie Ilsabein Wörheide. At that time, it was rare that a father of an illegitimate child to claim the parentage, but AlbertG3 did. Not only did he give his illegitimate son his Glied surname, but the child was also named Albert Henrich. Usually, an illegitimate child was given the mother's surname. To distinguish Albert Henrich, the father, from Albert Henrich, the illegitimate son, the father will be listed as Albert HenrichG3 and the son as Albert HenrichG4 in the following pages.

On 14 Nov 1788, Albert HenrichG3 Glied, age 24, wed ANNE MARGRETHE ILSABEIN BÖKERMANN, age 23. They were married at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche. At the time of their marriage, they were both single. AlbertG3 was a free man and Spinner by trade.iii Anne Margrethe Ilsabein (1765-1808), believed to be the daughter of Johann Caspar and Marie Elisabet Böckermann nee Kleineberg, was born on 6 Oct 1765 at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf #2. She was baptized on 13 Oct 1765 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.iv
After their marriage, AlbertG3 and Anne made their home at Särmann's Kötter (cottage) in the parish of Schildesche and attended the Evangelisch Church at Schildesche. During her lifetime, Anne was a Spinner and the mother of eight children. Anne Margrethe Ilsabein Glied nee Bökermann died from Wochenbett (childbed fever) shortly after the birth of her daughter, Hanne Friederike. She died on 10 Jun 1808 at Schildesche #34 and was buried in the kirchhof in Schildesche. She was 43 years old when she died.v At the time of his death, AlbertG3 was a Heürling and Spinner. Albert HenrichG3 Glied died from Kränke (gout) on 2 Mar 1818 at Schildesche #12 at the age of 53 years. He was also buried in the kirchhof at Schildesche.vi

ANNE CATRINE ILSABEING4 GLIED (1789-1790), the first child of the free Heürling, Albert HenrichG3 and Anne Margrethe Glied nee Bökermann, was born on 30 May 1789 at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf #4, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 1 Jun 1789 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche, Westfalen, Germany. Her sponsor was the Frau of Jobst Henrich Glied, Anna Ilsabein Schürmann, a Spinner.vii Anne died on 15 Mar 1790 at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf #4.viii

ANNE ILSABEING4 GLIED (1791-1863), the second child of the free Heürling, Albert HenrichG3 and Anne Margrethe Glied nee Bökermann, was born on 23 Feb 1791 at Bauerschaft Vilsendorf #1, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 25 Feb 1791 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche, Westfalen, Germany. Her sponsor was the Frau of Caspar Henrich Bökermann, Anna Marie Elisabet Kleineberg.ix On 14 Dec 1813, Anne Ilsabein Glied, age 22, wed CHRISTIAN FRIEDRICH WEMHÖNER, age 26. They were married at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.x Christian (1787-1859), the son of the Heürling, Johann Philip and Margrethe Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Niemann, was born on 21 Sep 1787 at Bauerschaft Wibbold #1, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 23 Sep 1787 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.xi During his lifetime, Christian was a Heürling, Weber, and Colonus. Christian Wemhöner died from Alterschwäche (debility of old age) on 7 Dec 1859 at Vilsendorf #19 at the age of 72 years, 2 months, and 15 days and was buried on 11 Dec 1859 in the kirchhof at Schildesche.xii During her lifetime, Anne was a Weber, a farm wife and mother. Anne Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Glied died from Alterschwäche on 30 Jun 1863 at Vilsendorf #19 at the age of 75 years and was buried on 5 Jul 1863 in the kirchhof at Schildesche.xiii The records of Evangelisch Church in Schildesche indicate that Christian and Anne Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Glied had the following seven children: 53. FRIEDRICH WILHELMG5 WEMHÖNER (1813- ), the first child of the Heürling and Weber, Christian Wemhöner and his fiancee Anne Ilsabein Glied, was *born on 16 Feb 1813 at Bauerschaft Schildesche #34, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 21 Feb 1813 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.xiv On 14 Sep 1838, Friedrich Wilhelm Wemhöner, age 25, wed HANNE WILHELMINE FRIEDERIKE DISSMANN, age 24. They were married by Pastor Lüning at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.xv Hanne (1813- ), the daughter of Johann Philipp and Margarethe Ilsabein Dissmann nee Ellermann, was born on 31 Dec 1813 at Bauerschaft Schildesche.xvi

CASPAR HENRICHG5 WEMHÖNER (1815-1843), the second child of the Heürling and Weber, Christian and Anne Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Glied, was born on 28 Jul 1815 at Bauerschaft Schildesche #16, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 30 Jul 1815 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche.xvii Caspar Henrich Wemhöner, age 28, died on 3 Oct 1843 at Schildesche and was buried on 8 Oct 1843 in the kirchhof at Schildesche. It is believed that he was wed to Anne M. Ilsabein Steinmeier.xviii

HANNE FRIEDRIKEG5 WEMHÖNER (1820-1826), the third child of the Heürling and Weber, Christian and Anne Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Glied, was born on 15 Mar 1820 at Bauerschaft Schildesche #14, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 19 Mar 1820 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche. Her sponsor was the daughter of the deceased Henrich Albert Glitt, Margarthe Anne of Könighof #8.xix Hanne, age 5, died from Krämpfe (spasms) on 23 Jan 1826 at Bauerschaft Schildesche #16 and was buried on 26 Jan 1826 in the kirchhof at Schildesche.xx

HANNE WILHELMINE HENRIETTEG5 WEMHÖNER (1823- ), the fourth child of the Heürling and Weber, Christian and Anne Ilsabein Wemhöner nee Glied, was born on 23 May 1823 at Bauerschaft Schildesche #16, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 25 May 1823 at the Evangelisch Church in Schildesche. Her sponsor was the Frau of the Knecht, Johann Adolph Gäse of Vilsendorf bei #9, Hanne Margarete Anne Glitt.xxi

Her sponsor was the Frau of Caspar Henrich Glied, Anne Margareta Ilsabein Hunger, a Spinner.xxvii On 17 Feb 1815, Anne Marie Ilsabein Glied, age 22, wed FRIEDRICH WILHELM CASTRUP, age 21, at the Evangelisch Church in Werther, Westfalen, Germany.xxviii Friedrich (1793-1857), the son of the Kötter (cottager), Albert Henrich Castrup, was born on 17 Jul 1793 at Schröttinghausen, Westfalen, Germany.xxix After their marriage, Friedrich and Anne lived at Oberjöllenbeck for about ten years before they returned to live in Schröttinghausen in 1827. During Friedrich's lifetime, he was a Kötter, a Spinner, and was a Heürling at the time of his death. Friedrich Wilhelm Castrup, age 63, died from Brustfieber (pneumonia) on 24 Feb 1857 at Schröttinghausen #16 and was buried on 27 Feb 1857 in the Gemeinde Kirchhof at Werther.xxx Anne Marie Castrup nee Glied, age 73, died from Alterschwäche (debility of old age) on 8 Sep 1866 at Schröttinghausen #16, and was buried on 12 Sep 1866 in the Gemeinde Kirchhof at Werther.xxxi Friedrich and Anne Castrup nee Glied had the following eight children: 61. CATHARINE ILSABEING5 CASTRUP (1815- ), the first child of the Kötter, Friedrich and Anne Castrup nee Glied, was born on 16 May 1815 at Schröttinghausen #16, Westfalen, Germany and was baptized on 21 May 1815 at the Evangelisch Church in Werther, Westfalen, Germany.xxxii On 24 Mar 1837, Catharine Ilsabein Castrup, age 22, wed PETER HEINRICH CASTRUP, age 26.
