HEINRICH ADOLPH RUDOLPH PÖPPELMEIER (1857-1945)THE THIRD GENERATION-PÖPPELMEIERANDTHE SIXTH GENERATION-GLIEDPART ONEThe setting for this chapter begins at Bauerschaft Ahmsen, Lippe now located in the modern day state of Nordrhein/Westfalen, Germany in 1857 with the birth of Heinrich Adolph RudolphG3 Pöppelmeier. Heinrich Adolph Rudolph, better known as Henry, was the grandson of BernhardG1 Pöppelmeier, and the son of Hermann HeinrichG2 Pöppelmeier and his wife, Anne Catharine IlsabeinG5 Pöppelmeier nee Glied. He was also the great, great, great grandson of EberdtG1 Glied; the great, great grandson of JobstG2 Glied; the great grandson of Albert HenrichG3 Glied; and the grandson of Albert HenrichG4 Glied. By 1857, the economy of Germany was recovering from a depression. The price of grain reached record heights in the later half of the 1850s.1 Meanwhile, America was experiencing an economic slump resulting in the failure of many major firms during the panic of 1857.2 Hermann Heinrich and his wife, Anne Catharine Pöppelmeier nee Glied continued to live at Bauerschaft Ahmsen in Lippe. During the ten years of their marriage, Anne had given birth to four children. A month before their eleventh wedding anniversary, Anne gave birth to her fifth child, Heinrich Adolph Rudolph,. 1255. HEINRICH ADOLPH RUDOLPHG3 PÖPPELMEIER (BernhardG1 ) (GliedG6 : Eberdt,G1 Jobst,G2 Albert Henrich,G3 Albert HenrichG4 ), the fifth child of the Erbpächter, Hermann HeinrichG2 and Anne Catharine IlsabeinG5 Pöppelmeier nee Glied, was born on 10 Sep 1857 at Bauerschaft Ahmsen, Lippe, Germany. He was baptized on 20 Sep 1857 at the Evangelisch Münstergemeinde Church in Herford, Westfalen, Germany. His sponsors were H. Schaefer of Bauerschaft Ahmsen, H. Vahlenkamp of Bauerschaft Ahmsen, and H. Glied of Bauerschaft Elferdissen.3 The early years of his life were spent in this locale. Henry was about ten years old when his parents immigrated to America in 1867.4 After leaving their home in Ahmsen, Lippe the family traveled to the port of Bremen where they bought passage on the Bark Dorette. The Bark Dorette arrived in New Orleans on the 21 Oct of 1867.5 After their arrival in New Orleans, the family traveled up the Mississippi River to Missouri. Their final destination was Franklin Co., MO, where Henry's uncle, Johann Barthold Poeppelmeier and his family, resided. Shortly after their arrival in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO, Henry's parents became members of Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church. Henry was listed on the 1870 U.S. Census form as a twelve year old male, who was living in his parents' home located in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO.6 He was confirmed in 1871, on Palm Sunday, at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church of Franklin Co., MO. His Bible verse was Luke 8:50.7 During the years 1870-1880, Henry lived in Lyon Township, MO and worked on his father's farm. The 1880 U.S. Census was taken on 30 Jun 1880. Henry was listed on this census as an unmarried, 22 year old, farmer. He was still living in his parents' home located in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO, along with his older brother, William, and his younger sister, Charlotte.8 On 30 Jul 1881, Henry A. Poeppelmeier bought a parcel of land from Fritz and Mary Vogt which was described as the Southeast quarter of Southeast, Southeast quarter, Southeast quarter, Section (7), Township (43) of Range (3) West containing forty acres more or less.9 The family of Casper10 Greife also lived in Franklin Co., MO. Casper Heinrich Greife was formerly from Bauerschaft Laer bei Herford, Westfalen, Germany. He heard about the advantages of living in Franklin Co., MO, and decided to leave his home in Germany and emigrated to the German settlement in Franklin Co., MO. Casper met his future wife, Hanna Louise Meier, in Franklin Co., MO. Hanna Louise Meier was born circa 1840 in Laer bei Herford, Westfalen, Germany. On 12 Oct 1860, Casper Henrich Greife wed Hanna Louise Meier, age 20. They were married by Pastor Johann P. Welsch at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church of Franklin Co., MO. Hanna's parents were the witnesses.11 Casper and Hanna Louise Greife nee Meier had two daughters who married two Poeppelmeier brothers. During the next two years, Henry became better acquainted with his sister-in-law, Anna Greife, and eventually they decided to marry. On 10 Dec 1882, Heinrich Adolph Rudolph Poeppelmeier wed ANNA FRIEDERIKE GREIFE. They were married at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO.12 Anna (1863-1938), the daughter of Casper Heinrich and Anna Wilhelmine Greife nee Meier, was born on 11 Oct 1863 at her parents' farm located near Shotwell in Franklin Co., MO.13 Shotwell was an important inland trading point located in Section (7), Township (42), Range (3) West.14 She was baptized, Anna Friederike, on 24 Jan 1864 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Anna was named after her sponsor who was Anna Friederike Meier.15 Anna's mother died when she was about ten years old. Her older sister, Wilhelmine, took over the running of the household and helped to raise the rest of the family. At the time of the 1880 U.S. Census, Anna and her sister, Wilhelmine, were residing in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO. They were enumerated under the family of P. N. Butler, Sr., Physician and Surgeon. Anna, age 16, and Wilhelmine, age 18 were working as servants.16 After their marriage, Henry and Anna lived in Lyon Township, MO. Anna was a farmer's wife and mother of ten children. On the 1 Aug 1885, Henry bought his parents' farm which was described as the South half of the Northwest quarter of Section (8), in Township (43), Range (3) West containing eighty acres more or less.17 Two and a half months later, Henry's father died. During the decade, 1890-1900, Henry was employed as a blacksmith. His business was valued at $500.18 By the time the Twelfth U.S. Census was taken on 24 Jun 1900, Henry was able to say he owned his farm free of any mortgage, and that he was able to send five of his children to school. Henry, age 42, was the head of the household that included his wife, Anna, age 36; and their children: August, age 17; Ida, age 16; Amanda, age 14; Helene, age 12; Paul, age 9; Clara, age 7; Rosy, age 6; Arthur, age 4; and August, age 1. Henry's farm adjoined the farm belonging to his brother, William.19 Ten years later, when the Thirteenth U.S. Census was taken in Apr of 1910, Henry, age 52, continued to operated a general farm in Lyon Township of MO. Henry was the head of the household that included his wife, Anna, age 46, and their children: Clara, age 17; Rosa, age 15; Arthur, age 12; August, age 10; and Della, age 8.20 When the Fourteenth U.S. Census was enumerated in Mar of 1920, Henry and Anna were still living on a general farm located in Lyon Township, MO. They owned their mortgage free farm. Henry, age 62, was the head of the household that included his wife, Anna, and their children: August, age 21, and Della, age, 18. Their son, August, was a farm laborer on the home farm. Their daughter, Della, was working out, doing house work.21 Henry and Anna lived the rest of their lives on their farm in Franklin Co., MO. Anna Friederike Poeppelmeier nee Greife, age 74, died from arteriosclerosis on 26 Jul 1938 at her home in Franklin Co., MO. She was buried on 28 Jul 1938 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.22 Heinrich Adolph Rudolph Poeppelmeier died on 13 Jun 1945 at his home in Franklin Co., MO, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 3 days. He was buried on 15 Jun 1945 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.23 The ten children of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife:
1381. AUGUSTE WILHELMINEG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1883-1974), the first child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 31 Jan 1883 at her parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 6 Apr 1883 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her sponsors were Frau H. Poeppelmeier and Frau W. Poeppelmeier.24 She attended the parochial school at Ebenezer "Stone." Auguste was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 29 Mar 1896, at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was Matthew 21:22.25 Auguste was the oldest of nine children living in her parents' household when the Twelfth U.S. Census was taken in Jun of 1900.26 Also living in this locale was the family of Heinrich Panhorst. Heinrich and his wife, Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Hoemann27 had eight children. They were also members of Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church. Two of Henrich and Wilhelmine Panhorst's sons married two of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier's daughters. Their son, Edward Panhorst, married Auguste Poeppelmeier in 1905, and their son, Albert Heinrich Panhorst, married Rosa Rebecka Poeppelmeier in 1919. Auguste and her future husband, Edward Panhorst, applied for their marriage license on 5 Jan 1905 at the county clerk's office at Union, MO. Edward was from St. Clair, Franklin Co., MO, and Auguste was from Drain, Franklin Co., MO.28 On 8 Jan 1905, Auguste Wilhelmine Poeppelmeier wed EDWARD HEINRICH PANHORST. They were married by Pastor Jung at Drain, Franklin Co., MO. Julius Wilhelm Panhorst and Ida Poeppelmeier were their witnesses.29 Edward (1880-1947), the third child of Heinrich Adolph and Caroline Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Hoemann, was born on 20 Sep 1880 at his parents' home located in Franklin Co., MO. He was baptized on 7 Nov 1880 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. His sponsor was H. Panhorst, Sr.30 He grew up in this locale and was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 17 Apr 1895, at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church. His memory verse was Ils. 54:11.31 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated on 14 Jun 1900 for Lyon Township, MO, Edward was one of seven children still living in his parents' household.32 By 1920, Edward and Auguste were living in Central Township, St. Clair 4th Class, Franklin Co., MO, when the Fourteenth U.S. Census was enumerated. Edward was listed on this census as the head of the household that included his wife, Auguste, age 38, their children: Dorothy, age 13; Alberta, age 10; and Harry, age 4 and 9/12 year, along with Adele Poeppelmeier, his 18 year old sister-in-law. They had two boarders staying with them. Edward was a salesman in a general store.33 Albertha Panhorst writes, "Edward Henry Panhorst came to St. Clair in 1904, and with his brother, Julius, established a general merchandising store which was in continuous operation until 1934, known as Panhorst Bros General Merchandise. Since 1934, he owned the Cash Feed Store until his death in 1947. Edward Panhorst died on 13 Aug 1947 at the age of 66 years, 10 months, and 24 days. He was buried on 17 Aug 1947 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.34 Auguste was a homemaker and mother of three children. Auguste Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier died on 30 May 1974 at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, Franklin Co., MO and was buried on 2 Jun 1974 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO. She died from cardiac arrythmia, myocardial infarction, arteriosclerotic heart disease.35 Edward and Auguste Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier had the following children: 1382. Dorothy, 1383. Albertha, and 1384. Harry. 1382. i. DOROTHY ANNA CAROLINAG5 PANHORST (GliedG8 ) (1907-1944), the first child of Edward and Auguste Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 21 Sep 1907 in St. Clair, Franklin Co., MO and was baptized in Oct of 1907. She lived her entire life as a single woman in Franklin Co., MO. Dorothy, age 36, died on 24 Feb 1944 at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, Franklin Co., MO and was buried on 27 Feb 1944 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.36 1383. ii. ALBERTHA ANNA WILHELMINAG5 PANHORST (GliedG8 ) (1909- ), the second child of Edward and Auguste Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 13 Sep 1909 in St. Clair, Franklin Co., MO. Albertha, better known as Bert, was a school teacher. Even though she is currently retired, Bert is still very active in the local affairs of St. Clair, MO.37 1384. iii. HARRY EDWARD HENRYG5 PANHORST (GliedG8 ) (1915- ), the third and last child of Edward and Auguste Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 6 Apr 1915 in St. Clair, Franklin Co., MO. He was baptized at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in St. Clair, MO. On 5 Dec 1942, Harry Edward Henry Panhorst wed his first wife, DOROTHY JEAN VOSS. Dorothy, the daughter of Elmer Voss, was born on 30 Jan 1922 in Alton, Madison Co., IL. Harry and Dorothy divorced in 1951.38 The two children of Harry Panhorst and his first wife, Dorothy Panhorst nee Voss: 1385. Margaret, and 1388. Larry. 1397. IDA WILHELMINEG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1884-1964), the second child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 19 Feb 1884 at her parents' home located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 9 Mar 1884 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her sponsor was her aunt, Hanne Wilhelmine Poeppelmeier.59 She attended the parochial school at Ebenezer "Stone" as a child. Ida was confirmed in 1898, on Palm Sunday, at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was 1 Peter 5:7.60 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was taken for Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO, in Jun of 1900, Ida was the second oldest of nine children living in her parents' household.61 Ida and her future husband, Oscar Dierking, applied for their marriage license on 3 Sep 1909 at the county clerk's office at Union, Franklin Co., MO. On 7 Sep 1909, Ida Wilhelmine Poeppelmeier wed OSCAR HELMUTH DIERKING. They were married at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Edwin Dierking and Amanda Poeppelmeier acted as their witnesses.62 Oscar (1885-1961), the son of Louis and Lizzie Dierking nee Roth, was born on 13 Aug 188563 at his parents' farm located in Section (30), Township (43), Range (1) West in Franklin Co., MO.64 Otto and Ida were living in St. Clair, Central Township, Franklin Co., MO, when the Fourteenth U.S. Census was taken on 13 Feb 1920. The family consisted of O.H., age 35, a salesman at a grocery store, Ida, his wife, age 36, who also worked at the grocery store as a saleslady, and their children: Kathryn, age 8; Fredia, age 8; and Oliver, age 5 and 9/12 year.65 Oscar Helmuth Dierking died on 5 Feb 1961 and was buried in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.66 Ida was a homemaker and mother of three children. Ida Wilhelmine Dierking nee Poeppelmeier died on 31 Mar 1964 at St. Clair, Franklin Co., MO. She was buried on 3 Apr 1964 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co. MO.67 Oscar and Ida Dierking nee Poeppelmeier had the following three children: 1398. Fredia, 1403. Kathryn, and 1406. Oliver. 1398. i. FREDIA ANNAG5 DIERKING (GliedG8 ) (TWIN) (1911- ), the first child of Oscar and Ida Dierking nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 3 Jul 1911. On 3 May 1936, Fredia Anna Dierking wed WALTER WILLIAM VIEHLAND. Walter (1914- ) was born on 18 Jul 1914.68 The child of Walter and Fredia Viehland nee Dierking: 1399. Lloyd. 1403. ii. KATHRYN E.G6 DIERKING (GliedG9 ) (TWIN) (1911- ), the second child of Oscar and Ida Dierking nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 3 Jul 1911. On 11 Apr 1947. Kathryn E. Dierking wed JOHN J. GUDERMUTH. John (1913-1981) was born on 7 Mar 1913. Kathryn was a homemaker and mother. John Gudermuth died on 9 Oct 1981 and was buried in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.74 The child of John and Kathryn Gudermuth nee Dierking: 1404. Linda. 1406. iii. OLIVER OSCARG6 DIERKING (GliedG9 ) (1914-1987), the third and last child of Oscar and Ida Dierking nee Poeppelmeier, was born on 17 Apr 1914. On 16 Jun 1935, Oliver Oscar Dierking wed FRIEDA PAULINE SCHUCHART. Frieda (1912- ) was born on 26 Aug 1912. Oliver Oscar Dierking died on 18 Nov 1987 and was buried in the Union City Cemetery at Union, Franklin Co., MO.77 The child of Oliver and Frieda Dierking nee Schuchart: 1407. Ruth. 1412. iv. MARKG9 STRUBBERG (GliedG12 ) (19 - ), the fourth child of James and Sharon Strubberg nee Roehrs.83 1420. AMANDA MARIAG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1886-1964), the third child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 28 Mar 1886 at her parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 2 May 1886 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her sponsor was Auguste Greife.91 She attended the parochial school at Ebenezer "Stone." Amanda was confirmed on 26 May 1900 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was Jer. 41:13.92 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated in Jun of 1900, Amanda, age 14, was one of nine children living in her parents' household in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO. She had attended school for six month that past year.93 Also living in this locale was the family of Friedrich Wilhelm Panhorst. Friedrich Wilhelm and his wife, Caroline Panhorst nee Rohlfing, had eleven children, six daughters and five sons. They were also members of Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Their son, Friedrich, was the same age as Amanda. Friedrich courted Amanda and they decided to marry. Amanda and her future husband, Friedrich Panhorst applied for their marriage license on 25 Apr 1911 at the county clerk's office at Union, Franklin Co., MO. Friedrich was from Boeuf Creek, Franklin Co., MO, and Amanda was from Gerald, Franklin Co., MO.94 On 30 Apr 1911, Amanda Maria Poeppelmeier wed FRIEDRICH WILHELM PANHORST. They were married by Pastor D. Behrens at the home of Amanda's parents in Franklin Co., MO. August Mann and Lydia Mann acted as their witnesses.95 Friedrich Wilhelm (1886-1981), the seventh child of Friedrich Wilhelm and Caroline Panhorst nee Rohlfing, was born on 29 Nov 1886 at his parents' home in Franklin Co., MO. He was baptized on 26 Dec 1886 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., Mo. His sponsor was Wilhelm Panhorst.96 Friedrich was better known as Fred. He grew up in this locale and was confirmed on 26 May 1900 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church of Franklin Co., MO.97 Fred was one of seven children living in his parents's household in Lyon Township, MO, when the Twelfth U.S. Census was taken in Jun of 1900. He was 15 years old and was attending school.98 At the time of the Fourteenth U.S. Census, Fred and Amanda were renting their home in Washington, Franklin Co., MO. Fred worked at the pipe factory.99 Both Fred and Amanda were described as being very pleasant.100 Amanda Maria Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier died on 29 Dec 1964 in Franklin Co., MO and was buried on 1 Jun 1965 in St. Peter's Cemetery at Washington, Franklin Co., MO.101 Fred Panhorst died on 2 Apr 1981 and was buried in St. Peter's Cemetery at Washington, Franklin Co., MO.102 Fred and Amanda Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier had no children. 1421. ANNA HELENEG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1888-1910), the fourth child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 17 Apr 1888 at her parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 27 May 1888 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her parents were her baptismal witnesses.103 Anna Helene was better known as Helene or Lena. When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated in Jun of 1900, Helene, age 12, was one of nine children living in her parents' household located in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO. She had attended school for six months during the past year.104 Lena was confirmed in 1902 on Palm Sunday at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was 1 John 4:16 & 19.105 Anna Helene Poeppelmeier died on 8 Mar 1910 at her parents home (rural Gerald) at the age of 21 years, 8 months and 21 days. She was buried on 10 Mar 1910 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.106 She was single at the time of her death. Lena had been ill for 18 months and had undergone three operations. Two of the operations were performed in St. Louis and one at her home prior to her death. The family said she had appendicitis.107 1422. PAUL FRIEDRICHG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1890-1954), the fifth child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 22 Sep 1890 at his parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. He was baptized on 15 Nov 1890 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. His sponsor was his uncle, Wilhelm Poeppelmeier.108 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated in Jun of 1900, Paul, age 9, was one of nine children living in his parents' household. He had attended school for six months during the past year.109 Paul was confirmed on 15 Nov 1904 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. His Bible verse was John 11:25-26.110 By Apr of 1910, Paul was nineteen years old and living by himself on a farm he was renting in Lyon Township of Franklin Co., MO.111 On 24 Dec 1918, Paul Friedrich Poeppelmeier wed ANNA AMANDA RIEKHOF. They were married at Higginsville, Lafayette Co., MO.112 Anna (1893- ) was born on 24 Dec 1893.113 Paul and Anna were living near her parents in Davis Township, Lafayette, Co., MO, when the Fourteenth U.S. Census was taken in Jan of 1920.114 Paul was a farmer his entire life, and was interested in raising chickens. He had a personality that everyone liked.115 Paul Friedrich Poeppelmeier died on 26 Dec 1954 and was buried on 28 Dec 1954 in the Evangelical and Reformed Cemetery at Higginsville, MO.116 Paul and Anna had no children. CLARA CHARLOTTEG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1893-1983), the sixth child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 1 Mar 1893 at her parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 11 May 1893 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. ROSA REBECKAG4 POEPPELMEIER (GliedG7 ) (1894-1976), the seventh child of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier nee Greife, was born on 24 Apr 1894 at her parents' farm located at Buffalo Ridge (Lyon Township) near Gerald in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 8 Jun 1894 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her parents acted as her baptismal witnesses.127 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated in Jun of 1900, she was listed on the census form as Rosy, age 6. She had attended school for six months during the past year and was one of nine children living in her parents' household located in Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO.128 Rosa was confirmed by Pastor Jung on Pentecost, 24 Mar 1907 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was Romans 14:7-8.129 At the time of the Thirteenth U.S. Census, Rosa, age 15, was one of five children living in her parents' household.130 Also living in this locale was the family of Heinrich Panhorst. Heinrich and his wife, Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Hoemann had eight children. They were also members of Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church. Henrich and Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Hoemann had two sons who married two of Henry and Anna Poeppelmeier's daughters. Their second oldest son, Edward Panhorst, married Auguste Poeppelmeier in 1905, and their youngest son, Albert Heinrich Panhorst, married Rosa Rebecka Poeppelmeier in 1919. Rosa and her future husband, Albert Panhorst applied for their marriage license on 25 Feb 1919 at the county clerk's office in Union, MO. Albert was from New Haven, Franklin Co., MO, and Rosa was from Gerald, Franklin Co., MO.131 On 2 Mar 1919, Rosa Rebecka Poeppelmeier wed ALBERT HEINRICH PANHORST. They were married by Pastor Edward E. Petschke at the Ebenezer "Stone" Church parsonage. Alfred Hoemann and Adele Poeppelmeier acted as their witnesses.132 Albert Heinrich (1895- ), the eighth child of Heinrich Adolph and Caroline Wilhelmine Panhorst nee Hoemann, was born on 17 Nov 1895 at his parents' home in Franklin Co., MO and was baptized on 26 Dec 1895 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. His sponsor was Heinrich Hoemann.133 Albert, age 4, was youngest of seven children living in his parents' household in Franklin Co., MO, when the Twelfth U.S. Census was taken in Jun of 1900.134 He grew up in this locale and was confirmed on 27 Mar 1910 by Pastor Behrens at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO.135 Albert was the youngest of three children still living in his parents' household at the time of the Thirteenth U.S. Census. He was 14 years old and was listed as a farm laborer who was working on the home farm.136 Ten years later when the Fourteenth U.S. Census was taken in Jan of 1920, Albert, age 24, was the head of the household that included his wife, Rose, age 25; his widowed mother, Caroline, age 61; and his 18 year old cousin, Walter C, who was listed as a farm laborer.137 Albert was a farmer. He was described as a pleasant person.138 Rosa was a homemaker. Rosa Rebecka Panhorst nee Poeppelmeier died on 28 Feb 1976 at the Hermann Hospital in Hermann, Gasconade Co., MO. He was baptized on 3 May 1897 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. His parents acted as his baptismal witnesses.140 When the Twelfth U.S. Census was enumerated for Lyon Township, Franklin Co., MO, in Jun of 1900, Arthur, age 4, was the second youngest of nine children living at home.141 Ten years later, when the Thirteenth U.S. Census was enumerated for Lyon Township, MO, Arthur, age 12, was one of five children living at home. He had attended school during the past year.142 Arthur was confirmed on Palm Sunday, 31 Mar 1912, at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. His memory verse was Jerm. 17:7.143 Arthur and his future wife, Lydia Schmidt, applied for their marriage license on 21 Sep 1925 at Union, MO. On 27 Sep 1925, Arthur Heinrich Poeppelmeier wed LYDIA ANNA SCHMIDT. They were married at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. Albert Schmidt and Clara Poeppelmeier witnessed their marriage.144 Lydia (1899-1965), the daughter of Friedrich and Friederike Schmidt nee Holtgrewe, was born on 12 Jun 1899 at her parents' home in Franklin Co., MO. She was baptized on 10 Aug 1899 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO. Her sponsor was Anna Braeder.145 At the time of the Fourteenth U.S. Census, Lydia, age 20, was still living in her parents' home located in Lyon Township, MO. It was reported on this census form, that Lydia was the housekeeper at home.146 Lydia was very interested in music.147 Arthur was an carpenter.148 Lydia Anna Poeppelmeier nee Schmidt died on 7 Jul 1965 at the Frene Valley Nursing Home in Hermann, Gasconade Co., MO149 and was buried on 10 Jul 1965 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery, Franklin Co. MO.150 She was 66 years, and 25 days old at the time of her death. Arthur Henry Poeppelmeier died from acute myocardial infarction and coronary arteriosclerosis on 19 Aug 1974 at his home in Gerald, Franklin Co., MO and was buried on 22 Aug 1974 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery, Franklin Co., MO.151 He was 77 years, 4 months, 25 days old at the time of his death. They were married at the home of Gottlieb Kamper, the father of the bride. Herman H. Hoferkamp and Hulda Hoferkamp nee Kamper witnessed their marriage.158 Della (1903-1984), the daughter of Gottlieb and Augusta Kamper nee Fleer, was born on 18 Jun 1903 at her parents' home located in Gerald, Franklin Co., MO, and was baptized at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church, Franklin Co., MO.159 She was confirmed on 6 Apr 1917 at Ebenezer "Stone" Evangelical and Reformed Church in Franklin Co., MO. Her Bible verse was Ps. 5:13.160 August and Della made their home on Rural Route 1, Gerald, MO where August was a farmer. He was described as a very pleasant person. August David Poeppelmeier suffered a heart attack at his home, rural Gerald, Franklin Co., MO and died on 6 Jun 1962 at age 63 years, 10 months, and 23 days. He was buried on 9 Jun 1962 in the new Ebenezer "Stone" Church Cemetery in Franklin Co., MO.161 Della was a homemaker. She was described as having a sweet personality. Adele "Della" Charlotte Poeppelmeier nee Kamper died from heart failure on 22 Jun 1984 at her home on Rural Route 1, Gerald, Franklin Co., MO.
